It rained all night and was still lightly raining this morning at 7:30 when we met Stanley to go fishing on his boat. Stanley is a 72 year old retired Coast Guard Chief that lives in Wasilla near "Bailen Palin". It's amazing how many Alaskan's are mad at Sarah Palin for resigning. His wife doesn't like to fish much so he asked Abby and I to go with him.
We cast off at 7:50 and had hooks in the water at 8:30 after a basically zero visibility ride to the fishing area.
It rained almost the entire time we were on the water. Fortunately Stan had a "bimini" type cover on his boat. I wore my waders with a rain coat on top so I stayed dry. Abby brought her waders but decided not to wear them. She got soaked because she caught fish! When we hooked a fish we had to go out in the rain and fight them to the boat.
We had a great day on the water with Stanley despite the weather and we each caught 3 Silver Salmon. Abby's side of the boat had bigger fish than my side so she wins bragging rights for the day. I was behind her at one point 2-0 but made a strong comeback to tie for numbers but not total weight.
Tomorrow Ken and I are going fishing with Stanley at 6:30 A.M. Abby is staying behind to dry out. I don't have any room left in the freezer. In fact we are defrosting items from the freezer in the fridge/freezer in the RV to make room for what we caught today. Hopefully we can ship some fish home from here.
Below are some pictures from today's fishing expedition.
Ken and Debbie just came for dinner. They were bear hunting today while Abby and I were fishing and here are some of their pictures.
Hopefully more tomorrow.
